James Cameron teases bad news for future Avatar sequels

20th Century Studios has finally released the highly anticipated sequel to 2009’s biggest hit symbol picturewhich is an absolute hit. Avatar: Water Road It’s already been winning big with critics and fans alike that it has a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and A CinemaScore. It’s also grossing at the box office, recently passing $1 billion at the global box office, and it looks like the third film might be safe after director James Cameron’s recent comments. Cameron was in high spirits during the press race water way, but now it appears that he may have hinted at some potential bad news for the future of the franchise. During a recent interview with The Wrap, the director revealed that symbol picture Sequels may be released a lot slower than fans expected.

Cameron told the magazine, “They’re out there. These stories are out there. We know exactly what we’re doing. We know what those movies are going to be. We just have to go through the process of making them.” So, you better know two years from now, [Avatar] 3 come out. Ideally maybe 3 years after that 4 comes out and then ideally maybe 2 years after that 5 comes out. So we’re not going to stray from the market, so we’re going to have that sense of a perpetual world and an ongoing story that I think people want. If they’re going to invest in these characters, they’ll invest in that world, and we want to give them a regular rhythm, ideally, and that was the game plan. This is one of the reasons for our long departure.

Cameron has been developing sequels to his record-breaking movie for over a decade. The studio has announced four series to symbol picture, with two already filmed, and the other two are waiting to see how the first does at the box office. The director shot both sequels back in time because of how they needed to shoot scenes for both. About a year ago, Cameron confirmed to Variety why he shoots movies this way.

“We mixed together schedules of 2 and 3, based on the types of scenes and environments,” Cameron revealed of the trade. I said, let’s just treat it like it’s a six-hour miniseries and we’ll go to Frankfurt just once. We’ll shoot all scenes 2 and 3 at the same time. That was more or less the idea. Actor availability was also an issue. Anything has to be done. done with a certain actor, we did all the scenes for 2 and 3 together – and a little bit of 4. Because again, I had to shoot the kids. They were allowed to be six years old in the middle of the story on page 25 of movie 4. So I needed everything Before then, and after that it’s all, we’ll do it later.”

The sequel is confirmed to feature several returning stars including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stepehn Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, Matt Gerald, and Sigourney Weaver. The sequel’s cast will include many more newcomers than returning members, with the likes of Kate Winslet, Clive Curtis, Eddie Falco, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, David Thewlis, Vin Diesel and CJ Jones all set to appear as well. Details of the plot of the sequel are currently unknown.

Avatar: Water Road It is scheduled to arrive on December 16, 2022, with Avatar 3 It is set to debut two years later on December 20, 2024.
