Sep 20 2022 update:
It appears that Pico accidentally posted a new promotional image of Pico 4 on social media too soon. Shows a view of the headset and controllers. By mistake, as the post was later deleted again.
When the official Pico account was asked about this bug, it stated that it was a “test”. So it is possible that the image is real.
As expected, the VR headset in the photo is very thin – similar to the Quest Pro – and also looks very compact. This new form factor is made possible by particularly flat lenses, called pancake lenses.
Pico releases the first trailer, which introduces popular VR games and fitness apps. The device itself is not shown.
The global reveal will be a little earlier and will target the western market. Pico will introduce the new headset on September 22 at 8AM ET (14:00 GMT+2). You can watch the presentation via Youtube or TikTok.

Pico’s latest VR headset will be launched in a couple of weeks. You can already reserve the device in China. The price is still a secret.
Pico 4 has appeared on the Chinese online store Taobao. The device can be booked there for the equivalent of $15.
The price is set at 9,999 yuan, or about $1,500. However, the stated price is a placeholder and will be announced on September 27, in just under two weeks. On that day, the new headset will likely be revealed.
It is not clear when the VR headset will be launched in the West. According to a Chinese analyst, the handset will be launched worldwide in September and will be priced aggressively to compete with Meta.
Pico 4 is available in two different types of memory and with accessories
Getting into the online store reveals more about the latest Pico hardware: it will be launched in two variants with 128 and 256 GB storage. Meta also offers Meta Quest 2 in these two configurations. There’s also a preview of accessories, a Facepad, and a carrying case.

The most interesting are the photos that show parts of the headset design. The VR headset features built-in pie lenses, according to the Federal Communications Commission, which should result in a narrower form factor than is common in most virtual reality devices. Leaked design concepts confirm this. Pico has also completely redesigned the consoles.
What about the Pico 4 Pro?
Beko promotes the headset as a “new flagship”, an “all-in-one machine” and a consumer product. The company, which is owned by TikTok parent Bytedance, will launch two new VR headsets simultaneously, according to FCC filings: the Pico 4 and the Pico 4 Pro, the latter reportedly offering more headsets. Face and eye tracking. There is no mention of the Pico 4 Pro in the online store.
It is very likely that Pico will wait until the unveiling of the Meta Quest Pro (information) on October 11th and only then will present the Pico 4 Pro with its price tag. The next four weeks will be very exciting for fans of virtual reality and augmented reality.
