Valorant Patch 5.12 Notes: New Swiftplay Mode, Agent Changes, and More – Dexerto

The last Valorant of the year is here with Update 5.12 and there are a lot of changes along with a brand new game mode for you to try out. Keep reading for everything there is to know about Valorant’s latest 2022 update.

Episode 5 Act 3 in Valorant was mostly about balancing agents with various buffs and nerfs. To keep up with the trend, update 5.12 introduced changes to almost all agents in the game. In addition to this, Riot has also introduced a brand new game mode which will be available until the end of this episode.

Given that Riot has confirmed Update 5.12 to be the last update of 2022 in addition to Episode 5, it remains to be seen how the changes will affect in-game metadata ahead of Episode VI. All changes coming with the new update.

These are the main features of Valorant Update 5.12 patch.

With 15 Agents affected by Update 5.12, it’s safe to say this is one of the biggest minor patches in Valorant’s history. In addition, Specter also received a significant nerf to balance its in-game performance.

Aside from that, Riot has also introduced several new damage interaction changes that will now cause many abilities to behave differently than before against other abilities. On top of all that, Riot is also launching a new beta game mode that features much faster matches with the best nine-round build.

    • Updated stability curve
      • The spread increased after the second bullet, when spamming. This is expressly intended to reduce low-fidelity spam being fired at the body as an effective combat measure at range.
  • Appointment
    • The room now places a single anchor that can be teleported within its range
      • Radius increased 7.5m >>> 13m
    • The teleport activation height restriction has been removed
      • You can teleport to the anchor while on a different vertical as long as you are within its radius.
    • Weapon equip time after teleportation increased by 0.4sec >>> 0.7sec
      • Headhunting is not affected by this change
    • Now destroying the rendezvous teleport anchor disables it for the rest of the round, instead of putting it into a cooldown.
    • The room no longer holds an additional cooldown when the Anchor is summoned after teleportation.
    • Health decreased by 80 >>> 50

    • The trap is now limited in scope
      • The brand will be deactivated when Chamber moves out of range, and reactivated once inside.
    • Can now be summoned mid-round without line of sight

Swiftplay beta

Swiftplay game mode will be available until the end of Episode 5, Chapter 3 in Valorant.

Swiftplay Beta is playable From December 6 to January 10, 2023.

  • Similar to Unrated Standard 5v5 mode, but intense:
    • The first 5 rounds, half a round
    • Spike mode victory conditions
    • Determine the credit amounts awarded at the start of the round
      • 2400*
        • Does not include the 600c bonus for winning the pistol round
    • Arms and credit migration support
    • +600 credits bonus for winning a gun round
    • Standard kill bonuses (+200c) and Spike Plant bonuses (+300c)
    • Two Ult Points are awarded at the start of each run
    • Match time is approx. 15 minutes

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Viper would not decay to Phoenix for a short time after dying during Run It Back when it decays. (Thanks for the Iyerfire report)
  • Fixed an issue where Cypher could not place Trapwires on the panes of glass next to the yellow chest in the Icebox.
  • Fixed a bug where enemy spy cameras or turrets could trigger Cypher’s trap wires.
  • Fixed a bug where enemy knives could not damage the meeting room anchor.
  • Fixed a bug where the Boombot would explode on contact with Yoru’s Gatecrash signals.
