You won’t be able to guess what role this new sci-fi horror trailer will take | Atmosphere

We thought we knew where this was going…and it turns out, we have no idea.

The first trailer premiered on the web this week for the new sci-fi horror film infinity pool And boy, is it wild.

It stars Alexander Skarsgard and Cleopatra Coleman as James and Em, a wealthy couple vacationing at an all-inclusive resort on the fictional island of La Tolca.

Guided by the seductive and mysterious Gabby (Mia Goth, X), the pair venture outside the resort grounds during which time James hits someone with his car.

James is horrified to discover that the crime of any punishment committed on the island is death. However, for an exorbitant fee, he is allowed a quick clone of himself to stand at his place of execution.

While that in and of itself is probably already enough nightmare fuel to keep the sci-fi horror going, the promo continues – showing Gabe, James, and others engaging in various acts of violence and pleasure after the execution.

Even more disturbing is the fact that they wear absolutely hideous face masks which are supposedly made from human skin.

The movie is written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg, who made one of the best sci-fi movies in recent years with 2020’s Possessor. He also happens to be the son of legendary director David Cronenberg.

Infinity Pool doesn’t have an Irish release date yet, but it will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in the US next month.

Meanwhile, earlier in the week, JOE covered the trailers for the sci-fi movie Mickey 17 and TV shows The Last of Us and Treason in separate articles.
