Apple plans to introduce new 13-inch MacBook Air, 11-inch iPad Pro, and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with OLED screens in 2024, according to a display industry consultant. Ross Young, who in the past has shared accurate information about future Apple products. Young shared his latest information in a tweet with his subscribers on Sunday.

Young didn’t share any additional details, but said earlier this year that the three devices will have two “stacked” OLED screens with red, green, and blue emissive layers to increase brightness and reduce power consumption. Young previously said that all three devices will also support ProMotion with up to 120Hz refresh rate.

The 2017 and later iPad Pro models already feature ProMotion technology with a refresh rate of 24Hz to 120Hz, while ProMotion will be all-new on the MacBook Air. Apple added ProMotion to the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2021, also with a 24Hz to 120Hz range.

There are currently no Macs or iPads with OLED screens. Apple’s latest MacBook Air and iPad Pro models are equipped with LCD screens, with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro featuring a small LED backlight for increased brightness and an improved contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. Unlike LCD screens, which have small LEDs, OLED screens contain self-emitting pixels and do not require a backlight, which gives the devices a better contrast ratio and better battery life.

Young is the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC). In the past, he has meticulously revealed that devices like the iPhone 13 Pro and MacBook Pro will feature ProMotion, that the sixth-generation iPad mini will have an 8.3-inch display, that the latest MacBook Air will be slightly larger than the 13.6-inch, and much more, making That gives him a very successful track record with Apple product rumors.
