Marvel Studios wanted two Black Panthers at the same time in the MCU

Speaking on the Empire Podcast, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Star Letitia Wright has revealed that Marvel Studios originally planned to have Shuri’s T’Challa and Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther simultaneously.

When asked about her emotions when she first donned the suit, Wright looked back on it as a bittersweet moment while sharing that “Shuri was always going to do that.” She explains that she and Bozeman were going to be riding side by side, trying to figure out how best to defend Wakanda together:

Empire: “I imagine there’s a lot of weight associated with that suit for many reasons. Can you talk to me through your feelings as you put on that suit and jump into the set, and what was the reaction?

Wright: “It was bittersweet. Shuri would always do that. But it would have been done in a different way where her brother would be by her side, really explore that, like in the comic books, the ways that T’Challa and Shuri would be the Black Panther side by side and try Knowing how to defend their nation.”
