next update to Gran Turismo 7 It will arrive during the week of December 12, 2022, bringing with it the largest collection of vehicles of any update in the game’s life so far.
Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the Gran Turismo series, confirmed in the usual fashion to a social media post with silhouette-style masked images of vehicle content, that the update — which we’ll tentatively call 1.27 — will add five new cars to the game.
It will arrive on a date yet to be determined within the week, but most of the updates so far have arrived on Thursday, so we expect it to come on the morning of December 15th. Awarded for one of the five cars involved.
This is the central car in the picture, and it’s also the most visible of the five: Ferrari’s Vision Gran Turismo. This was revealed at the recent World Finals event in Monaco, and while it will make it to the game in this update, most players won’t get their hands on it for a little more than a week after it’s added.
If you take part in the live stream of the World Finals Viewers’ Campaign and answer correctly the fourth and final question in the Nations Cup Grand Final, you will be awarded a Ferrari on December 15th. Those who didn’t had to wait for it to unlock Brand Central for the game, and pay in-game credits for it.
There is some discussion about the remaining four vehicles, but it appears the cars include three new to a much-needed series and one returning favourite.
That last item is the car in the upper right, clearly marked by the spoiler, hood hatch and roof scoop of the Toyota Celica ST205 rally car. This has been a staple of the series ever since GT3 But skip GT Sportso he’ll make a welcome return and likely go into the Gr.B.
The bottom right car appears to be the Bugatti Chiron, the long overdue Gran Turismo car. Once the world’s fastest car, the Chiron has already been previewed by the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo that debuted in 2018 Gran Turismo Sport in 2017 after it was revealed in 2015.
There is more speculation about the remaining two cars, but the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm appears to be shown at the bottom left. This high-performance version of the already hot Giulia Quadrifoglio boosts power and reduces weight – even eliminating the rear seats – to make one of the fastest four-doors. Oddly enough, this would be a very rare appearance of a new car from the newly formed Stellantis family that appears in any racing game anywhere.
Finally there is the car in the top left. The shape suits a lot of mid-engined supercars, but we think it’s the long-awaited C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette. As it has appeared in other racing games, the C8 has been kind of a glaring absence from the game GT7so it’s a really welcome addition.
Of course, the teaser post, as always, only reflects the new vehicle content coming to the game. There’s no further information at this time regarding what else might be added regarding track content or features – although interested players may have discovered a couple of placeholder names added to the display area of the game in relation to two additional Nürburgring location layouts: “Endurance” and “enemy”. We’ll have to wait and see if this leads to anything concrete.
We expect the update to arrive on Thursday, December 15th, just ahead of Gran Turismo’s 25th anniversary on Friday, December 23rd. In-game activities to celebrate this milestone are already available and will continue through early January.
