His wife confirmed that the cause of death of Power Rangers star Jason David Frank was suicide.
David Frank was confirmed dead on November 20 during a weekend away with his wife at the age of 49, although no cause of death was given at the time.
The actor is best known for playing Green Power Ranger Tommy Oliver in the Power Rangers franchise, with his latest movie – Legend of the White Dragon – set for release next year.
His wife Tammy Frank spoke to PEOPLE on behalf of their family, who said they had a frank and emotional talk and were in the process of reuniting after a breakup when he killed himself during the flight.

Jason was also a trained martial artist off screen and fought professionally from 2008-2010
Jason has portrayed many different Ranger colors over the years, including green, white, and red, as he has returned to the franchise for a few films.

While Jason was a household name to some, we lived pretty normal lives with ups and downs, just like everyone else. It shocked and incredibly saddened me to see that the media has turned my family’s tragedy into a tall story.
She added, “Since Jason’s death, I have been subjected to online harassment and can no longer stand to watch my husband’s good name be defamed.” I loved my husband, and we were trying to work out our problems. His death shocked me as much as anyone else.
“The truth is, I had no idea Jason was even considering ending things,” she said. “Yes, he had struggled with mental health issues and depression before, but I couldn’t predict what would happen that night.”
Tammy remembers what happened on the evening of November 19, the night her husband died.
She had filed for divorce earlier in the year after accusing the actor of infidelity, having been married to Jason since 2003.
But at the time of his death, they had called off their separation and were in the process of reuniting.
The previous year, Tammy’s daughter, Shayla, who said Jason helped raise her as his own child, had died unexpectedly.
Jason found her when that happened, emotionally devastating the family.
“Between losing her and helping raise her infant son, Jason and I started having marital problems,” she said. “For anyone who knows the pain of losing a child, I know you understand how that loss changes things in your marriage.”
Tammy said the two decided to separate at that time, not knowing what to do.
But six weeks ago, they decided to rekindle their romance after a close family friend intervened in their attempt to reunite.
Jason has planned a two-night getaway as part of his plan to reconnect, attending a country dance event.
She added that they stayed in two separate hotel rooms because of Jason’s snoring.

“We danced and stayed at the party until the pub closed. When we got back to the hotel, Jason and I were having a frank, passionate talk in his room,” she recalls.
To help Jason relax and wake up before he fell asleep, I went downstairs to get snacks from the lobby. I must have gone more than 10 minutes. I went back upstairs and started knocking on the door with no answer. I repeatedly knocked on the door and kept asking him to open the door with his name.
She continues, “I don’t know if the hotel staff or the guest called the police, but after I was taken away by the police, they were able to open the door and find that Jason committed suicide.”
Jason is survived by his four children, sons Hunter and Jacob, as well as his two daughters, Skye and Jenna.
Concluding her statement, Tammy asked people to leave her family to grieve in peace.
Expressions of appreciation poured in from fans and friends as they shared their memories of the movie star.
